Welcome to the Berkshire Parkinson's Support Group

Facing Parkinson's together — with open arms and honest hearts

If you or someone you love is living with Parkinson's disease, we're glad you found your way here. Whether you were diagnosed yesterday or years ago, whether you are a care partner searching for answers, or a family member simply trying to understand — you belong here, and you are welcome.

Parkinson's disease asks a great deal of those it touches. We know, because we are living it too. We are people with Parkinson's and the care partners who walk beside us — a community of over 90 individuals from across the Berkshires who have chosen to face this journey together rather than alone.

What began in 2020 as a small gathering in Monterey has grown into something we cherish: a place where knowledge is shared freely, where hard questions are met with compassion, and where every person's experience is honored.

What You'll Find Here

- Resources for navigating Parkinson's — from medications and treatment strategies to movement practices like Parkinson's-specific exercise, yoga, and music therapy

- Information about our monthly gatherings featuring expert presentations followed by facilitated support groups, one for people with Parkinson's and a second for care partners

- Words of support and reflection from our members, offering experiences, insights, and encouragement to light the way

- Connections to physicians, elder-care professionals, and community services throughout the Berkshires and beyond

Our Guiding Spirit

Catalyzed by the words of our member Michael Lally, we believe that living well with Parkinson's begins with three quiet acts of courage:

Acceptance — of where we are today, without judgment.

Forgiveness — of ourselves and our limitations.

Gratitude — for the connections that sustain us and the simple beauty of greeting another morning together.

You Are Welcome Here

You don't need to have all the answers. You only need to know that there is a community in the Berkshires ready to meet you where you are.

Founded in collaboration with the Monterey Council on Aging, the Berkshire Parkinson's Support Group exists for one reason: so that no one in our region has to face Parkinson's alone.

We invite you to explore this site, join us at a meeting, or simply know that we are here whenever you are ready.

Meetings: First Thursday of each month, 2:00–4:00 PM | Monterey Library, 452 Main Street, Monterey, MA | Free and open to all.
